Social Network with the least downtime, guess what?

Social network means millions of users. Millions of users means millions of page views. Millions of page views means millions of dollars revenue. So when social network website gets down, they lost lots of money. And every second counts.

Royal Pingdom measured the uptime of 12 popular social networks – MySpace, Facebook, LiveJournal, Orkut, Friendster, Windows Live Spaces, Xanga, Bebo, Last.fm, Reunion.com, Classmates.com and Yahoo! 360 – over a three month period.

The result is quite impressive to me. I’m delighted with the fact that social networks today is very reliable. Much more reliable than i thought.

Half of the social network in that research only having less than an hour downtime (remember, in three months period). Yahoo! 360 even has zerro downtime. Facebook took the second place with 10 minutes downtime. Great.

And our old friend’s social network, Windows Live Spaces, as you might have guessed, has the longest downtime (3 hours). Ouch..
